THE STORY: “Praised for unparallelled craftsmanship, artistic talent, photographic skills, they snapped this Group-Selfie, for posterity. The Group was comprised of 5 fellows: Two, once-highly-sought magicians (the two on the far-right), the master-photographer (far-left, rear), a young vaudeville sensation (far-left, front), and one whose nickname was “Napoleon of Thieves” (this fellow is far-left, center, seated at the desk.) It was he, “Napoleon” who led The Group. The very same man responsible for at least one of the most shocking Art Heists, in 1875–specifically, the theft of the painting, “Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire”, by one Thomas Gainsborough, who painted the Dutchess in 1787. After this photograph was taken, The Group combined their fine talents, mixed them together with cunning, craftiness, and plenty of smoke-and-mirrors, with which they planned their biggest heist, yet. Too bad things didn’t pan-out as they’d hoped. They were busted, big-time. Nice Selfie, though.” 🙂 (revised)                                                                                                                                                                   This was pinned by a friend of mine, Eleanor Taniguchi • 3 weeks ago on Pinterest. Thanks Eleanor. (She sends a lot of good ones. So does Gail K.) Vintage Selfie, 1890
